إحياءً للذكرى الرابعة والستين ليوم الهجرة الموافق لـ 17 أكتوبر 1961، نظّمت القنصلية العامة للجزائر بنيويورك مراسم احتفالية بهذه المناسبة الوطنية المجيدة، تخليدًا لتضحيات أبناء الجالية الجزائرية في المهجر الذين ساندوا الثورة التحريرية المجيدة ووقفوا إلى جانب الوطن الأم من أجل نيل الحرية والاستقلال.
استُهلّت المراسم بسماع النشيد الوطني وقراءة فاتحة الكتاب ترحّمًا على أرواح شهداء الوطن الأبرار، تلاها الوقوف دقيقة صمت إجلالًا وتقديرًا لتضحياتهم.
وبهذه المناسبة، نظّمت القنصلية العامة، بالتعاون مع “الحركة الجمعوية لجاليتنا بنيويورك”، ندوة تاريخية حول دلالات وأبعاد هذا اليوم الخالد، تخللتها مداخلات لعدد من أفراد الجالية الذين عبّروا عن اعتزازهم العميق بانتمائهم للوطن الأم رغم بُعد المسافة، كما ثمّنوا مثل هذه المبادرات التي من شأنها أن تعزز الروابط بين الجالية ووطنها، لا سيما لدى الأجيال الناشئة.

On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Migration Day (October 17, 1961), the Consulate General of Algeria in New York held a commemorative ceremony to honor this significant national event and pay tribute to the sacrifices of Algerians abroad who stood in solidarity with the National Liberation Revolution and contributed to the independence of their homeland.
The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem, followed by the recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs, and a moment of silence was observed in their honor.
In the same context, the Consulate General, in collaboration with the Community Movement of Algerians in New York, organized a historical seminar reflecting on the meaning and legacy of this day. The event featured remarks from several members of the Algerian community, who expressed their deep pride in their national identity despite the distance, and commended such initiatives that strengthen ties with the motherland, particularly among younger generations.
May the souls of our martyrs rest in peace. Glory and eternity to them.
