تحيي الجزائر اليوم، الخميس 16 أفريل 2026، الذكرى السنوية لـ “يوم العلم”، وهي مناسبة وطنية غالية تحمل أبعاداً فكرية وتاريخية عميقة في وجدان الشعب الجزائري ولقد ارتبط هذا اليوم بمقولة الشيخ الشهيرة: “شعبُ الجزائرِ مُسلمٌ.. وإلى العروبةِ ينتسبْ”
تم اختيار يوم 16 أفريل (نيسان) تخليداً لذكرى وفاة العلامة الشيخ عبد الحميد بن باديس عام 1940، وهو رائد النهضة الإصلاحية في الجزائر ومؤسس جمعية العلماء المسلمين الجزائريين. يُعتبر ابن باديس الرمز الأول لمحاربة الجهل والمخططات الاستعمارية التي كانت تستهدف الهوية الجزائرية، مستخدماً سلاح العلم والتربية.
و تهدف الاحتفالات بهذا اليومترسيخ قيمة العلم كأداة أساسية لبناء الدولة وتطوير المجتمع و إبراز دور العلماء والمصلحين في صون الهوية الوطنية و تشجيع الأجيال الصاعدة على التفوق العلمي والتمسك بالقيم الأخلاقية.
Today, Thursday, April 16, 2026, Algeria commemorates the anniversary of “Knowledge Day” (Yawm al-I’lm). This is a cherished national occasion that carries deep intellectual and historical dimensions within the hearts of the Algerian people.
April 16 was chosen to commemorate the death of the scholar Sheikh Abdelhamid Ben Badis in 1940. He was the pioneer of the reformist renaissance in Algeria and the founder of the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulema. Ben Badis is considered the primary symbol of the struggle against ignorance and colonial plots that targeted Algerian identity, using the weapons of knowledge and education.
The celebrations of this day aim to establish the value of knowledge as a fundamental tool for nation-building and social development, highlight the role of scholars and reformers in preserving national identity and encourage rising generations to achieve academic excellence and adhere to moral values.
