All US nationals and Non-US Passport holders currently residing within the 44 States consular district of the Consulate General (All States except Washington DC, North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia) who want to apply for visa to enter Algeria are hereby informed that starting from November 24th, 2015, all visa applications must be dropped off at the Consulate General ONLY on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during working hours from 9 am to 3 pm. These three business days are the same days for passports pick up and send back.
Applicants must bear in mind that:
Visa processing time is no less than a week. The processing time will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.
Day of issuance is the first day of validity.
For mailed applications, we request applicants to take into consideration the time needed for shipping and handling. The Consulate General is not responsible, in any way, of any LOST or DELAY caused by shipping carriers.
Money order is not refundable, whether the visa is granted or not.
Incomplete applications will not be processed. The Consulate is not required to inform applicants of their incomplete applications. Incomplete applications with return envelopes will be sent back.
Application form MUST be filled on screen. Handwritten forms are not accepted.
Due to increasing cases of passports loss caused by shipping carriers, the visa office reminds applicants of the following:
- Return envelopes of mailed visa applications MUST be a certified express prepaid envelope.
- Name of applicant MUST appear as the SENDER and RECEIVER of the mail on the airbill.

The visa application will be processed only if you provide all the listed requirements.
Please read carefully the instructions before filling out two copies of the application form .Both forms must bear the original signature of the applicant.
Answer all the questions on the application form and fill out all the sections of the form. For example, if your parents are deceased, give their full names. Do not leave the section blank and do not write “Deceased”.
Remember to submit your passport when you apply for a visa and please attach two standard passport-size photos (glued or stapled). Photos must be recent, frontal-view, of the same batch, untouched, taken on white background and showing applicant wearing no glasses of any kind, except for prescription eyewear. Please write first and last names of applicant in pencil on back of photos. Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued.

A non-refundable US Post Office money-order only acceptable (individual) made payable to the order of the Consulate General of Algeria in the amount of:
- $160.00 for US citizens tourist visa, family visa, press visa, transit and business.
- $190.00 for working visa, temporary working visa and cultural visa .
All other nationals must check with the Visa Section for the applicable requirements and fees.
A copy of the earning statement.
Business Visa applicants must include a letter on official letterhead from their employer stating the purpose of their trip, and the full names and addresses of their contacts in Algeria. Applicants must submit with their application an invitation letter from the Algerian company they intend to visit (the invitation letter has to be addressed to the Consulate General of Algeria in New York).
Work Visa applicants must submit with their visa application an employment authorization delivered by the Algerian Ministry of Labor. The Embassy will not accept any authorization faxed or mailed separately.
Tourism Visa applicants must submit an itinerary of their airline travel and a confirmed Hotel reservation in Algeria.
Family Guest Visits: Applicants must provide with their application an invitation from their host in Algeria and notarized at the city hall of the place of residence of the Algerian host. The Consulate will not accept invitations faxed or sent separately.
Spouses of Algerian Citizens should submit a copy of the current Consulate Registration Card of their spouse and a notarized sponsorship letter signed by the Algerian spouse.
Return of Passports: Applicants or agencies agents may pick up passports at the Consulate General during visa office working hours (Wednesday to Friday) or send a CERTIFIED PREPAID SELF-ADDRESSED envelope with an EXPRESS Postal service (To avoid delays we recommend the use FedEx or UPS), including an airbill naming them as the SENDER and RECEIVER of the mail. In case of using other classes of mail, the Consulate General is not responsible, in any way, for the delay or loss of documents caused by shipping carriers.
Please note that fees for visa applications must be paid by money-order delivered exclusively by the U.S. Post Office and made out, accordingly, to the Consulate General of Algeria in New York.
Applications for diplomatic and service visas will be processed by the Office of Consular Affairs of the Embassy of Algeria in Washington.
