Update on issuance of biometric passport


 
  As part of its ongoing efforts aimed at providing quality services and considering the specificity of our consular post (Distance and traveling difficulties for our citizens), the Consulate General of Algeria in New York is pleased to inform its members within the 44 states of its consular jurisdiction in the USA, that as from the publication date of the present announcement, biometric passports will be mailed to their current mailing addresses.
In this respect, the Consulate wishes to draw the attention of each applicant for biometric passports that this new procedure is subject to providing the following documents:
  • A notarized Sworn Statement in which he/she requests the mailing of his/her biometric passport and acknowledges any liability pertaining to potential loss or damage;
  • The expired old passport together with the receipt handed over to him/her the day of enrollment (fingerprinting) by the consulate staff member;
  • A prepaid certified mail return envelope bearing applicant’s current address to mail the passport;
  • Original copy of 12S birth certificate, which will be mailed back to the applicant with the biometric passport;
Requests for mailing biometric passports of minors, under age of 19, must be addressed by their legal tutor (The father according to the Algerian law).
Requests for mailing biometric passports for minors under age of 19 of binational marriage (Algerian mother and alien father) must be addressed by the mother.
Each adult must provide individual request, (This applies also to husbands and wives).
It is advisable for families to provide a separate prepaid certified mail return envelope for each single biometric passport.
Requests that do not meet the abovementioned conditions will not be processed.
The Consulate General of Algeria in New York will, under no circumstances, be liable for loss or damage of any mailed biometric passport.

VISA APPLICATION

 
  All US nationals and Non-US Passport holders currently residing within the 44 States consular district of the Consulate General (All States except Washington DC, North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia) who want to apply for visa to enter Algeria are hereby informed that starting from November 24th, 2015, all visa applications must be dropped off at the Consulate General ONLY on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during working hours from 9 am to 3 pm. These three business days are the same days for passports pick up and send back. Applicants must bear in mind that:
  • Visa processing time is no less than a week. The processing time will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.
  • Day of issuance is the first day of validity.
  • For mailed applications, we request applicants to take into consideration the time needed for shipping and handling. The Consulate General is not responsible, in any way, of any LOST or DELAY caused by shipping carriers.
  • Money order is not refundable, whether the visa is granted or not.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed. The Consulate is not required to inform applicants of their incomplete applications. Incomplete applications with return envelopes will be sent back.
  • Application form MUST be filled on screen. Handwritten forms are not accepted.
Due to increasing cases of passports loss caused by shipping carriers, the visa office reminds applicants of the following:
  • - Return envelopes of mailed visa applications MUST be a certified express prepaid envelope.
  • - Name of applicant MUST appear as the SENDER and RECEIVER of the mail on the airbill.

ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE ALGERIAN COMMUNITY

 
  The purpose of this announcement is to draw the attention of the members of the Algerian community living in the United States, within the areas of consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Algeria in New York City, to the following points:

  • The Consulate General of Algeria in New York has initially scheduled biometric mobile services, in the following states: Illinois, Colorado, and Florida.
  • However, due to considerations relevant to the working procedures mainly the number of applicants that does not meet, so far, the minimum required to conduct a biometric mobile station in the states mentioned above, we are unable to set up a date.
  • Except the mobile services that are already scheduled and announced to the community (Illinois, Colorado and Florida), no more mobile stations are on the Consulate agenda.
  • In that respect, applicants for a biometric passport, living in the above-mentioned states, who will be mailing their applications, should make sure that they meet the requirements listed on the Consulate website.
  • Incomplete applications, unacceptable pictures, and registration forms that are not carefully filled out, will not be processed and will be mailed back to the applicant.
CGNY urges its community members in the remaining states who are planning to visit CG office in New York to mail their biometric passport applications and to confirm, within reasonable time, the date they intend to complete fingerprinting. This procedure will enable the consulate staff to process applications ahead of time and will relieve administrative workload during fingerprinting. Moreover, it helps in providing for a consistent high standard of quality of service to the community members. CGNY reminds applicants over the age of 12 that they must appear in person, at the Consulate General of Algeria in New York, to complete digital fingerprint records and digital photography.

IMPORTANT NOTICE


 
Starting January 1st, 2016, entry to the national territory will be granted only to holders of an Algerian biometric passport or a foreign biometric passport with a valid visa. The temporary facilities granting entry to our nationals holding an Algerian Identity Card or a foreign passport without a valid visa will no longer be in effect.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Consulate general of Algeria in New York wishes to inform members of the Algerian community living in the United States and duly registered with the Consulate's that, as of August 26, 2015, some countries will no longer accept ordinary passports as valid travel documents, due to the fact that such passports will have a validity period of less than three (03) months before the effective date of November 24, 2015, requiring use of biometric passports only. Consequently, the Consulate urges the members of the Algerian community living in the United States to refrain from using ordinary passports for any travel during that period.

The regularization process of the status of national service:
 
The Ministry of the National Defense has launched a new operation of regularization concerning the national service to the profit of our citizens born before January 1993. Our nationals residing in the United States dependent to our consular district must address to the Consulate General of Algeria in New York a regularization file containing the following pieces:

1- A (1) copy of the Consular Registration Card.

2- A (1) copy of your Birth Certificate.

3- Two (2) Identity photos.

4- A copy of the last obtained diploma or a Certificate of the abandon of studies.

إن وزارة الدفاع الوطني قد شرعت في عملية جديدة لتسوية الوضعية إزاء الخدمة الوطنية لصالح المواطنين المولودين قبل 01 جانفي 1993.
المواطنون المقيمون بالولايات المتحدة و التابعون لدائرة إختصاص القنصلية العامة الجزائرية بنيويورك ملزمون بالتقدم بملف تسوية الوضعية المتكون من الوثائق التالية:

02 شهادة الميلاد.

Passport fees as of 1st January 2015

The consulate General of Algeria in New York informs the citizens living in the US that, pursuant to the Finance Law for 2015, the passport fees to be paid starting from 1st January 2015, are $75.

12S birth certificate

 
 

As a facilitating measure to obtain the special birth certificate "12 S", compulsory for the issuance of the biometric passport the Consulate General of Algeria in New York informs the Algerian citizens born in Algeria, residing in the forty four (44) States, registered at the Consulate General, that they can, from now on, apply online for the special birth certificate "12s " through the website.

 
 


Step-by-step guide to obtaining your 12S birth certificate online

  1. If you were born in Algeria, and you live in the forty four (44) states ,and you are registred at the Consulate General of Algeria in New York, you can submit an online application to receive your “12S” birth certificate.

  2. The application form can be found at: http://demande12s.interieur.gov.dz

  3. You are required to register on the website, after which you will receive an e-mail containing your password.

  4. In order to register, please click on the “Register” tab, and enter your first and last names, as well as your e-mail address.

  5. Click on the “12S Application” tab and input your e-mail address, along with the password you’ve received, and click on “enter”.

  6. Fill out the submission form with the relevant information, and click on  “register”

  7. By logging in, you can keep track of your applications by clicking on “Submission Tracking”.  This will display the status of all of your applications.

  8. Your “12S” birth certificate will be retrievable at the Consulate General of Algeria in New York.

Given the proximity of the deadline for the use of the current regular passport, Algerian nationals registered at the Consulate General in New York are kindly requested to seek as soon as possible the issuance of biometric passports.
